What Makes a Good Brandpoint Client? A Sales Executive’s Perspective

This article was written by Jayson Wold, a Content Marketing Consultant and Sales Executive at Brandpoint. In the post, he’ll give you insights on four major qualities he looks for when building a relationship with a potential partner. These traits aren’t exclusive to Brandpoint, however, and are important to keep in mind when reaching out to any marketing agency.

My role at Brandpoint is to connect with marketing professionals about our services and capabilities. Most often, I am your first point of contact here. We discuss your marketing and business goals, challenges, what’s working, not working, budget and mutually agree if it might make sense for us to partner together. During this discovery process, I am often asked, “What makes a great Brandpoint client?” I love this question! It is an opportunity to work together in a true partnership. I am truly appreciative of the business that is earned.

So, what are the qualities that make for a great Brandpoint client?

Honesty

During the discovery process, when we are determining if we are a good fit for each other, it is important to share your marketing goals and your challenges. What keeps you up at night? Is there a problem, do you want to fix the problem and are you willing to go on a journey with me to fix the problem?

This is also the time to discuss budget. I understand that talking money is not always easy, but the information you share about how much you can spend in hiring an agency like Brandpoint will help our team craft a solution that will make the most impact on your goals. I also understand if you don’t want to share that information. If you just want to find out what it costs first, I am more than happy to share with you the range that our clients typically budget with us.

Honesty falls on me also. It is my job to be completely transparent. If it doesn’t look like we would be a good fit for each other, it is my duty to let you know that too.

Realistic expectations

It’s important that we agree on expectations at the start of our engagement. The content marketing plans that we create for our partners deliver results, but they don’t happen overnight. Think of it as a slow burn, building a solid foundation of content that will be rewarded by your audience and search engines over several months, not days or weeks.

You are investing in your business for the long term. Depending on your competition, it could even take years to get to where you want to be, but you will get there. Content is king, and it will always be.

Good communication

I get it, we are all super busy, and it’s tough to always reply to an email or phone call in a timely manner. Your Brandpoint team has created a custom content marketing plan for you that will require your input from time to time. We will need your feedback on things like topic ideas, first drafts of content, design templates, etc. The sooner we can get items approved, the sooner your content can be implemented and drive the results you need.

Feedback

We want to know how we are doing! There are a lot of moving parts in an agency, and although we aim to do our best, we sometimes might miss the mark. If expectations are not being met, let us know. Your Brandpoint team welcomes your feedback as we are always striving to improve. If you love what we are doing, we would love a testimonial or reference for potential Brandpoint clients.

Is an agency a right fit for you?

These are just a few of the ingredients that lead to a productive and well-performing Brandpoint partnership. We are appreciative of the business we have earned from our clients and we continue to earn that business every day. I can speak for the entire Brandpoint team in that we love nothing more than seeing our client partnerships grow into long-term relationships. What we do is exciting, fun and delivers results. I hope you will experience that with us too!
